Frame:
. An individual picture in a sequence of images.
Frame Rate:
. Number of frames or images that are projected or displayed per second.
. Represented as FPS.
. Most videos are shot at 24 or 30 frames per second.
. Professional frame rate of motion pictures is 24 FPS.
Example:
How it works?
. Human brain is capable of differentiating 10-12 still images per second.
. If FPS is 12 or less, we feel its just a bunch of still images in rapid succession.
. Once FPS is between 18-26, brain thinks that individual images are actually a moving scene.
Why 24 FPS?
. If FPS is too slow, motion looks jagged, if it is too fast, it makes problems.
. 24 FPS is the slowest that could support audio when played from 35 mm reel.
. Current industry standard is 24 FPS.
. U.S. standard is 30 FPS.
